You Don't Have to Be Perfect: Resting in Who You Are in Christ
Share
If you're reading this between the school drop-off line and your third cup of coffee, take a breath, sweet friend. You don't have to have it all together today.
We say it a lot at Tee-Hee Hut because we need to hear it as much as you do: you don't have to be perfect. Stay connected to God. He will handle the rest.
Why "enough" feels so far away
Somewhere along the way, a lot of us picked up the idea that being loved by God (or by anyone, really) is something we have to earn. A clean house. A calm morning. A perfect scripture memorized at just the right moment. We chase "enough" like it's a finish line, and it keeps moving.
Here's the truth that changes everything: your identity was never meant to come from what you accomplish. It comes from whose you are.
What it actually means to rest in Christ
Resting in Christ doesn't mean you stop showing up for your life. You still lead your team, love your family, run your business, and chase your calling. It means you stop believing those things are what make you worthy.
A few ways that can look in real life:
- Saying a short prayer before a hard meeting instead of trying to control every outcome yourself
- Letting a mistake be a mistake instead of proof you're failing
- Choosing one verse to come back to on hard days instead of trying to fix everything at once
One verse we come back to often: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).
A small, daily practice
Try this tomorrow morning: before you check your phone, say out loud, "I don't have to be perfect today. I'm staying connected to God, and He's got the rest." It takes ten seconds, and it can change the whole shape of your day.
